  5. This document refers to shareware application 'Soccer ScoreSheet',
  6. version 8.  This is a major new release of an already successful
  7. application.

  10. Overview
  11. ========
  12. 'Soccer ScoreSheet' is a Microsoft Windows (c)(r) application for the
  13. management of soccer league data.  It also comes complete with a
  14. significant number of features to assist football pools enthusiasts and
  15. syndicates.  All features are highly user-configurable to suit any
  16. league-based soccer arrangement, at professional, amateur, world-wide,
  17. regional and local levels.

  22. Target Audience
  23. ===============
  24. The target audience for this application falls into two main categories:

  26. *  People who have a regular need to keep soccer league statistical
  27.    information up to date.  For example league coordinators, club
  28.    secretaries, or private individuals who keep their own statistics.

  30. *  People who submit entries to football pools competitions who need
  31.    instant access to team form and past history.  This would also
  32.    include pools syndicates.

  36. ==================================
  37. *  Highly user-configurable league management.  Suitable for professional
  38.    or amateur league systems (currently in use with several UK league
  39.    clubs and organisations).

  43. *  Multiple user-configurable match categories to allow user to keep
  44.    track of league and non-league matches.

  65.    particular teams to be immediately identified in a visual context

  69. Major Features - Pools Prediction
  70. =================================
  71. Note:  Many users do not make use of the prediction features because
  72. they have no need of these for their own requirements.  The prediction
  73. features are supplemental to the league management features.

  75. The authors do not intend to misrepresent the capabilities of this
  76. application.  Whilst the use of this application may increase the
  77. chances of winning on football pools competitions, the authors do not
  78. make any such claim.  No computer program can be expected to reliably,
  79. consistently and accurately predict the outcomes of any sporting event
  80. prior to it having taken place.

  82. *  Multiple user-configurable prediction algorithms to suggest most
  83.    likely result of matches yet to be played.  Each algorithm is based
  84.    wholly on statistical comparison of pertinent home/away team data.

  86. *  Multiple perm support, allowing user to configure multi-column perm
  87.    arrangements and compare different perms across time.

  89. *  Significant use of colour representation for prediction purposes.
  90.    Colours are user-definable.

  92. *  Graphical analysis of predicted vs actual results.  User can define
  93.    result types (home, away, draw etc.), and date range.

  95. *  Automatic pools-points accumulation and presentation (points awarded
  96.    for results types are user-configurable).

  98. *  Graphical analysis of HOT and COLD pools coupon numbers, based upon
  99.    actual results achieved on the pools coupon over time.

  102.    arrangement.

  104. *  Calendar functions are colour-coded to give immediate visual feedback
  105.    to the user about which fixture dates still have outstanding results
  106.    etc.

  109. Target Platforms

  111. Soccer ScoreSheet is provided as standard with two separate runtime
  112. executables, one a 16-bit application, the other a true 32-bit
  113. application. These executables target the following operating systems:

  115.    *  Microsoft Windows 3.x

  117.    *  Microsoft Windows 95/NT
  118.  
  119. The data (and other support) files used by this application are 100%
  120. compatible between these versions, allowing a user to migrate between
  121. versions at any time without loss of data.

  124. Environmental Requirements
  125. ==========================
  126. For MS Windows 3.x a 386 PC (or better).  Recommended 8 megabytes RAM,
  127. and a 66MHz PC or better (will run on a minimally configured PC).

  129. For MS Windows 95 a 386 PC (or better).  Recommended 16 megabytes RAM,
  130. and a 66MHz PC or better.

  132. All installations require a minimum of 2 megabytes of hard disk space
  133. (cannot run on a diskette).

  136. Licensing
  137. =========
  138. Soccer ScoreSheet is released under the shareware concept.  The
  139. shareware version is fully functional and unlimited for 45 days to allow
  140. the user to fully evaluate the software.

  142. The user is obliged to register the software with the authors (see
  143. below) on completion of the evaluation period.  Licensing is provided on
  144. a single-user basis only.  Full details are contained within the on-line
  145. help under 'Registration'.

  147. The cost of registration is £19.  Registration can also be made via the
  148. Compuserve SWREG scheme using ID 4036.  A full money-back guarantee is
  149. offered by the authors in the event that the user is not 100% satisfied.

  154. *  The authors will provide the most up to date UK league table(s) they
  155.    have available.

  157. *  Personalised copy of the application, via user name/unique serial
  158.    number.  This will allow the user to personalise all future version
  159.    8's that may be released (it may roll over to version 9 or beyond at
  160.    the discretion of the authors).

  164. *  Free technical support from the authors (minimum of six months or
  165.    until the next major release, whichever comes later).

  167. *  A Soccer ScoreSheet newsletter is published to registered users.

  170.    detail at the end of a season (this is the only feature which is not
  171.    made available in the evaluation version).

  173. *  The authors operate a referral fee system for registered users - new
  174.    registrations can provide a cashback alternative for the person
  175.    making the introduction.

  178. Previous Versions
  179. =================
  180. The authors provide utility software to allow registered users of
  181. earlier versions to migrate their data files to this new version, thus
  182. ensuring backwards compatibility.
